I now have my Aluminum iMac 20"... even got a new External Firewire HDD for Time Machine use. I installed Leopard with no problems.... got Time machine running on the new drive with no problem on FW.

Suddenly, I can no longer access the external drive via Firewire. I can get it to mount with USB for now, but FW is obviously preferable.

Like my iMac G5 in Round 1.... does the new iMac have a resettable SMU. That was the problem with the G5...but want to make sure before I try such steps on this Mac.

Any ideas?!?

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem today!

Called Apple and they got me to Reset my PRAM.

(They didn't indicate if this was a problem caused by Leopard)

See Link below:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238

They did insist I held the key combination down for 3 whole 'Resets'
Basically you get the boot sound, then the screen goes black (that's once), then you get the boot sound again....(That's twice) and then a third time.

This seemed to do the trick, but I've got no idea how risky this is, so please read the above link before trying.

But it did the trick.
