Safari missing quicktime links in leopard

When on my 12" 1.5Ghz Powerbook G4 (i do not have the translucent menu bar but that is another issue) in safari most videos and ads have the quicktime logo with the ?. it works fine on my moms MacBook. how do i fix this?
 
oh and i just checked, it worked fine on safari for about 20 seconds and when i closed out firefox and reopened the quicktime videos didnt work, and i downloaded and installed the flash player and it didnt work
