1TB external drives for ~$250 by Christmas?

Need an external for my new iMac, right now 500GB FW800 drives can be had for between $180-$250.

How soon before the big 1TB drives fall to this level?

😱 I'm not sure what store you're looking at for external drives, but I recently picked up a Western Digital MyBook 500GB harddrive for $99 at Office Depot.

Crap...you said FW800 ones, mine is a USB 2.0, still though, you can't beat the price!

I have seen FW400s near that level. Maybe in the Boxing Day sales.

Buy a cheap FW800 enclosure from Hongkong via Ebay, and put your own drive of choice into it.
