Apple Wired Keyboard Software Help!

Hello, I just purchased a wireless keyboard off of a fellow forum member, and it was used and all I have is the keyboard. I plugged it in via usb and am wondering why when I click for instance F10 or F11 which have the volume down and volume up button, why the dashboard comes up, I went into :
Sytem Preference > Keyboard and Mouse > and then looked at the hotkeys but couldn't figure the solution out, any ideas?

its okay, i downloaded the update off of apple ty tho! btw this keyboard is great!
