I was wondering if there is tho ability to add a feature where you can see if a post you have made has been quoted. I think it would help in seeing responses.

Thoughts welcome

Rich.

That would be a heavy workload for the database.

i don't know if this is possible. but you could always do a search for your username. most of the results are quoted posts...unless you're immensely popular, and everybody's just dropping your name here and there.

I agree. I go on Craftster (http://www.craftster.org) every now and again, and you can click a button a bit like New Posts that says "Show new replies to your posts" and it does this. It's really good. :)

Another approach that's similar, but not quite what you are asking for:

In your User CP Options (http://forums.macrumors.com/profile.php?do=editoptions), set Default Thread Subscription Mode to one of the email notification choices.

When you post in a thread, you will receive email (instantly, daily, or weekly) when replies have been posted to that thread. You'll get these emails whether or not a reply quotes your post.

Some of us are heavy MacRumors users and know our subscription and Forum Spy features. :p

Me too. Although this might encourage some people to just read those posts that only relate to them, and ignore other parts of the thread where they might be an asset to someone in need of assistance.

I remember back when I never subscribed to threads or used Forum Spy. I spent so much time just looking for the threads that I had posted in.

I asked here and dug around in User CP. After that we're here with lightning fast replies and easy to track threads.

Having a huge buddy list also helps in finding threads that I might be interested as well.

User CP is a godsend. Although I've noticed a minor problem with it lately: if I login and go to CP, and then have to log out, all of the threads I haven't been to yet are automatically marked as fully read. Truly bizarre.

I would like the feature, but I'm not even sure if any of the vBulletin software supports it.

You don't find certain new members more amusing as opposed to strange(the iPhone forums are a good place to find this)?

Be careful. It might get your blood pressure up. Maybe we should have a doctor's note before we allow people into the iphone forums these days....

(Granted, I spend a fair amount of time in those forums, but I have low blood pressure. it keeps me from getting light headed if I spend my time getting annoyed...)

Funny thing is, I have blood pressure that's a tad lower than normal. Maybe reading some of those threads once in a while will help bring me back to 'normal' :p

Oh wait, this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=379019)can do that for me:rolleyes:

Is it at all possible to have (the option at least) a PM sent to ones inbox if they have been quoted?
That is all, I guess.

Sorry for the new thread, I saw this but didn't want to resurrect such an old one :o

Is this even possible with vBulliten? I'd love this feature, or like others have said, maybe an alternative color in Forum Spy when quoted.

I'm still up for this feature.

This thread was started in 2007 and the feature has yet to implemented. Expect to see it among other repeatedly-requested features to be implemented in year 3050.

Rule of thumb of improvements on Macrumors:
If the requested feature/improvement requires any effort more than changing a font from bold to italic, it will never be implemented.
