Can I chat to someone on MSN if I don't have an MSN account?

I have a friend who uses a PC with MSN Messenger and I use a Mac with iChat. Is there a plugin I can get for iChat so we could chat to eachother?

Someone recommended I use Adium, but if I don't have an MSN account, will that still work?

What do you use on iChat? AIM or .Mac?

If you use AIM, you can download adium and chat to someone who uses MSN.

I use .Mac.

just d.l ms messenger for mac. no reason why u cant use 2 im clients

1. I want to continue using iChat.
2. No offense to them, but I'm trying to have a Microsoft-free computer.

Use adium!!! you can logon to aim or yahoo username and talk to msn people, or you could just get an msn account..........it is free
