I just got this Powerbook from a girly friend who bought a shiny new Macbook Pro like a week ago. I tested it and everything seems fine. It's got a 1.33 g4 proccesor, 256 ram, 60gb hdd, bluetooth, airport card, ComboDrive.
I really wanna get a macbook pro so id like to know how much this is worth ad maybe i can sell my macbook (2.0ghz, 2gb, 160gb) or trade both for a macbook pro.
oh! it has some blemishes yes, some scratches on the left side of the trackpad, a hit on both the left side and right side, where the AC input and the div ports are, and a "light spot" on the upper center of the screen, they're not dead pixels just look lighter than the rest.

The computer seems on its way to a slow death. The specs are very low leopard standards and will need more ram for tiger as well.
I think $500 is a fair assesment.

Ill agree with you on that, it really needs ram, but it think itll be fine with 1gb.
Would upgrading the ram give me a better sale point?

I think with the average joe/ebayers, yes.
If you're selling exclusively here i wouldn't sweat it... we all know how easy it is to upgrade ram and you'd actually probably lose money by adding ram unless you had some around your house.
In an odd bit of coincidence, see my FS thread in my sig for cheap powerbook ram.
Also, if you have the 128mb video card your computer is worth more than my previous quote.

If you want to sell it on here, you're going to need some pictures of the damage.

i'd trade my macbook pro for those 2 if you are interested. mine is core duo, 1.83ghz, 1gb ram, 80gb hard drive. i know it isn't the top end of macbook pros, but i have been thinking about changing one laptop for two. i don't need the extra graphics card power, so trading for a macbook and powerbook would be cool. let me know.

The last picture I was trying to shoot the light spot on the screen but it's not really noticeable, unless you kinda look at if from the side.

I wouldnt say it is worth $500, with the damage that is on it. Id say closer to $400 is a more fair estimate. With the usage/damage it has on it right now, if it was a 1.67ghz one, I would say $500-$600, but because its the 1.33, Id say definetaly under $500, closer to $400.

Was the damage due to her dropping it? If so, was anything on it ever repaired?

not really those wore more like bumps, and it was never taken to repairs for anything, pretty good life up to now.

you'll get more on ebay for it. I'd expect around 500+ on ebay with good photos and description.... as you are trying to sell your macbook and this for a macbook pro, I'd ebay it so to get most for your money.
You can get a good refurb macbook pro for about 1800 (1699 plus tax) so I think with your macbook on ebay as well you'll be able to pull pretty close to enough for a macbook pro.
just make sure you do nice descriptive listings and someone will pick that baby up in a jiffy :)
