i have downloaded the open SSH app from the installer. But nothing for the app is created on my springboard. Can someone explain how to use this application on my touch.

You don't 'use' it as such, it runs in the background allowing you to connect to the touch with SSH or SFTP clients. In fact, you can't connect at all without it.

this is so weird. about 2 weeks ago when i jailbreaked, i didnt have to install open ssh..the sftp worked..but then just a few days ago, it kep saying the network is lost, so i couldnt sftp, and htne i installed open SSH and then it worked again...does anyone know why i didnt need it before?

Because before that, you used the Dropbear SSH client, which was at some reason damaged on your Touch. OpenSSH does the same, but just better.. with more features, and it is off-turnable..

How do you turn it off? I don't see any place to do this.
