Hello,

I have one of these cases http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=307998

My question is whether it 'll take any SATA drive (im confused by all the different types...for example SATA 300, SATA II etc)?

Thanks :)

Looks like it will work fine with any 3.5" SATA drive.

There are only two types of SATA, though the nomenclature can be a little confusing.

SATA aka SATA/150 = 1.5Gb/sec bus
SATAII aka SATA/300 = 3.0Gb/sec bus

Current drives may benefit from SATAII vs SATA, but the difference is fairly small.

SATAII is built to be backwards compatible with SATA. In almost all circumstances, you can use SATAII drives with original SATA controllers. There are a few rare exceptions, though most SATAII drives have a '1.5 Gb/sec' compatibility mode you can toggle with a jumper to ensure usability even on the few buggy/incompatible controllers out there.

In other words: don't worry about it. :)
