It's good to see the artists take a stand on this. The RIAA just doesn't seem to get it. If they don't embace the internet, it will bury them. This is how the younger generation wants to get their music. They want to listen to it on their MP3 players and iPods, neither of which have a CD player. With the emergence of Blue Tooth and Wi-Fi, folks are able to experience music in new ways.
The record companies need to change with the tide or else they will be left high and dry.
If I were an artist signed with a record company I would sue them for not maintaining sells. I would hold them responsible for the drop in sales. I would demand that they develope alternate methods of distribution. If not, I'd start my own label and distruibute it myself. And don't think it can't be done.
The RIAA might "Think Different" when they're the ones getting sued.

I think the RIAA should be sued or even taken to criminal court for obstruction of justice. They're issuing subpoenas without any sort of judicial overview. If you ask me, that is obstruction of justice and undermines the power of the independent judiciary.
