Scratch noise from speakers on wake up

hey guys, i have a 17" MBP Cord duo, running Leopard. Everytime I open the lid and wake up the computer there are a couple of scratch noises from the speakers. Any one else have this problem?

The volume could be up too high, and your speakers might be distorting.

Or, I don't know if your mac uses a digital amp or not - but if it does...

My 24" white imac, does that too -- in my case, sadly it's my digital amp. Startup chime sounds scratchy / grainy - and once in the OS, the speakers make a continuous whine that changes pitch each time a sound is made. I don't like it. But I forgot to return it during warranty. :(

It is the CD drive checking if there is a disc being inserted.
