Hi,
currently i connect my ipod from the mini-jack to my receiver.
the sound quality is much less compared my DVD player.
I understand that docks may give better sound quality, but still i'm thinking that sending digital signals to my reciever (same as DVD sends to receiver by coax of fiber) would give the best results.
So far i've heard about creative labs dock that has fiber digital output but it costs $200 and have wireless capabilities which i don't need so why pay so much.

My questions are:
1. Would digital output really improve the sound quality?
2. Are there more brands that make docks with digital outputs?

Thanks,
Noam.

1. only thing I've noticed with using an optical out is that it seems to make the music less "warm" hard to explain but I seem to actually prefer the old fashioned rca cable way

2. can't help ya on that one.. sorry

1. No. Especially not when playing back compressed audio.

2. The biggest improvement you will hear is to use the line-out from an ipod dock or the dock connector. Audio from the line-out and a digital output should sound just about identical. Audio from the headphone jack is inferior.
