Has anyone used the apple pro speakers with powerbooks? It suggests only using them with imacs or powermacs (currently) but i was just wondering if they would work other mac products.
Thanks,

Well, as far as I know, the answer is no. THe Pro speakers are passive, like hi-fi speakers they require an amplifier. That is why there is an extra port for them on Powermac and iMacs. These computers have a built in 20 watt amplifier which the apple speakers use for power. THe Powerbook only has the standard line out/headphone port. you could probably find a way a wiring the speakers to a normal hi fi amp but a decent set of speakers and hi fi amp will be much better anyway.
I guess the powerbook doesn't have this amp for obvious heat and space reasons.
