Hey guys, can someone tell me if loading a big video on youtube would have caused my memory usage to shoot up like this (see picture).

The only programmes I was running at the time were Firefox and iTunes, all of a sudden my fans kicked in a full tilt and I saw that my active memory had increased.

I'm curious to know why this happens as it's happened once before in the past, although I forget what I was doing at the time.

Out of paranoia - you should pull that pic. Its posting your IP info.

Someone smarter than myself could use that and potentially do bad things.

Unrelated to my first post - why does your "processes" section show memory in MB? Mine shows % of CPU workload.

What version of Istat is that?

Thanks for the tip off about the IP address thing. I never thought about that.

I use iStat Pro Version 4.1. Under the settings I choose to sort processes by memory usage instead of CPU usage.

Did it soon settle back down? How big was the video? I'm not 100% sure there's anything to worry about, necessarily. 🙂

Yeah, it settled down again. The video was 27 minutes long and it did settle back. As long as it's nothing to worry about 🙂
