Do existing customers have to go though a credit check when transfering to the new phone/contracts?

Nope.

I certainly didnt anyway.
In fact, they didnt take any bank details. I presume they'll take it from the current Direct Debit they have with me.

Cool, I doubt there would be a problem but with the initial outlay for the handset you do not want to take chances!

If you don't pass the credit check, you are able to take the iPhone back for a full refund. (for 14 days from the purchase date)
