Number transferred, is old contract dead?

I have already moved my pac code to O2 from Orange.
When the transfer is done, 16th nov, does that mean my Orange contract will cease?...or do I still need to call Orange to cancel my contract?

Your contract with Orange will expire at your next billing date.
