iPod Balance Settings in iPod

I hate to sound like such a noob, but I have wondered for a long time how you adjust the balance for the output from an iPod. I know that in OS X it is in the Sound preference pane, but I can't find it anywhere either on my iPod or iPhone. Does this feature exist at all, or no? 😕
