View Full Version : Keynote files on windows...HELP??

I have been put in charge of our journal groups presentations. We usually use powerpoint but I have gotten permission to use Keynote. I know that Apple annouced that the Keynote file format is open. Is there a viewer I can use on Windows that will preserve all the Keynote transitions. I know I can export to quicktime and that is what I'm doing as I work on the presentation and show my progress to my bosses. But, I cannot view full screen quicktime files because I have to have the Pro version. Can anyone help me out? I have also tried exporting to PowerPoint but it loses most of my transitions and formatting. I'm doing this project at home but we only have PC's at work :(

Here's the pres. I'm creating so far. The were so impress with my draft of my pres using keynote they are having me put the whole presentation together.

See if the video lan client will play quicktime files full screen. I assume it will.

I know that doesn't *solve* your problem but it might until somebody in the know can answer...

From my experience using QT is that if you have fancy transitions and GIF animations is that you have to set the frame rate very high to prevent them from being jerky. Even when you do that, the file size of the QT movie is extremely high (I had a 40 minute presentation that ended up being 430MB) Also another problem I have had is that if you use vector based images or text is that it appears bitmapped in the presentation.

Like you, I am hoping that Apple will release a keynote viewer for PC

Write to Apple (http://www.apple.com/feedback/keynote.html) and let them know that you want a viewer. Unfortunately I can't give you any more help.

You might try exporting to Quicktime and use Mpeg 4, then use Videolan (VLC) on windows to play back the presentation. You'd have to manually pause it I would guess...

Or just pay the 29 bucks...which sucks just to get full screen...
