The disc drive in my g5 tower broke and was removed some time ago. I have been using an external Sony disc drive since. I am now trying to install Leopard from the external Sony drive but its not working.

I have tried the "install Mac OS X" fuction from the install disc and the computer reboots to my account and not the installer disc. I have tried holding the "C" key during reboot with no luck.

Any help/suggestions is very welcome...

Have you tried holding option on boot? Also, is the external connected via USB or firewire?

"Option" doesnt work either. The drive is connected via USB.

:)

- take a screwdriver
- open up the Sony drive case.
- take out Sony drive.
- install in G5.
- reboot and hold down "c" key
