How do you know what week your ipod touch is???

Might be a silly question but there are lots of threads here talking about people having a week 39 or 40 or whatever touch pod. How do people know what week their ipod touch is? Is this just a calendar week or is there a manufacturing week (so to speak)

I bought mine three weeks ago and there was no hiss - took it back because ofanother issue last Saturday and my new one has the dreaded hiss - it's quite noticeable. Both from the apple store in Regent St London.

I'd like to know if the 'week' has anthing to do with it.

look at your serial number on the back of the touch. The weeks are the first two numbers after the letters, I think it is like 5 or 6 in.
