Our new 24" iMAC 2.8GHz (special order) with 1GB RAM (I installed 4GB OWC ram) - has one stuck (ON=WHITE) pixel. We have never had this problem before with about 8 other new :apple:MACs.

Anyone else have a new Aluminum iMac with a stuck or dead pixel?

http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor Don't use to much pressure though! As this can damage the screen.

I believe that apple is using the LED displays in your version of the iMac. This white pixel is a dead or about to die pixel. I have one of those on my 5th generation iPod, it comes a goes. I would contact apple to see what they can do about it. You should have a fully functional and a computer with out flaws when you spend that much money. Hope for the best

ALL flat panel products are LCD. (except plasma TVs) And stuck pixels are just that STUCK pixels they are not going to die. Atleast i have never heard of that. They are fixable with a couple different techniques. Chances are good apple won't do anything. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=22194 most companies won't do anything before 5 pixels. But you can phone them and try talk them into it. First try seeing if you can get rid of the stuck pixel on your own.

The imacs don't have LED displays, just standard cold cathode backlit LCD.

Also, I REALLY recommend that you DON'T try fixing a dead pixel on an aluminium imac by massaging it. Considering that there's a glass panel infront of the actual screen, you'd have to 'massage' the glass so hard that it broke before you even applied any pressure to the real screen! Use one of the many 'flashing colour' videos - you have to leave them running for many many hours, but they do work sometimes (I fixed one on an old lcd that way).

20" Al-iMac here, one stuck pixel (red).

I can hardly see it, to be honest, certainly not worth the hassle of trying to get the machine replaced IMO.

Wouldn't a white pixel just be a stuck pixel and a black pixel a dead pixel?
Mine came with two dead pixels - you hardly notice them and I don't want to mess with sub-par Apple representatives and probably end up with an iMac with more dead pixels.

For those with a stuck pixel, I would recommend running the applet here http://www.jscreenfix.com/ - many have reported great success with it.

Yup, I deal with two dead/stuck pixels on my new iMac.

One dead sub-pixel down in the corner was no big deal, but
my 24" ALU ex-iMac's screen was a gradient-disaster. The
white 20" C2D upgrade/replacement has a flawless display.

FWIW I asked the :apple: sales person to open the box and boot up my imac before I bought it.

Had a good long look at the screen before I decided it was ok and then took her home happily :)

I've only noticed 1 dead pixel on my 20" iMac.

Since it's the only one I've seen and it's barely noticeable, I'm fine with it. Not a big deal to me, IMO. I can only see it on a white background and even then, it's barely noticeable.
