Ive got a mac G4 with 1Ghz processor. It was originaly purchased in August 2003.
I cant tell if its a dual or the graphics one.
My question is how can I tell which USB type it has, 1 or 2?
I cant find this out in system profiler. Was there a G4 model when mac introduced USB2?

Thanks

It has USB 1.x.

The G5s were the first Mac tower to have USB 2.0.

You can tell in Apple System Profiler. If you have USB 2.0, you should see an entry entitled "USB High-Speed Bus". If all you have is "USB Bus", all you have is USB 1.x.

Mactracker (http://www.mactracker.ca/) is very useful for identifying the specifications of older Macs.

Just ordered up a USB 2.0 PCI card to upgrade.

Now will a USB 2.0 PCI expansion card actually reach its' true speeds through a PCI slot?

Haha, of course.

USB 2.0 theoretical absolute maximum = 480 Mbps = 60 MB/sec

Regular PCI is 133 MB/sec

Will any USB 2.0 PCI card with the VIA chipset work or will it be hit and miss?
Better yet... will this specifically work in a Mac?
