Hey guys!

I've been a browser on this forum for the past 6 months or so, and I've finally bit the bullet and bought a 20 in 2.4ghz iMac with 2gig ram.
Here are my unboxing shots

And of course no unboxing would be complete without a funny story starring my stupidity...

So the first thing i did was to slot in the drop in leopard disk and start a clean install. The process was smooth as one would expect, but to my shock, 10 minutes into the installation, my screen went black! The computer was still making a soft hum, but even when i pressed the power button on the back, the screen would still stay blank!

You see this is my first all in one computer, I'm not used to screens going to sleep during OS installs, funnily enough I didn't even think of wiggling the mouse, so like a fool, after 10 minutes of stressing i force reset. Of course now the hard drive was screwed, so I tried to boot into the CD again. Once I was in, it had to verify I had OSX on my hard drive, which I didn't anymore. So yes, I started to reinstall tiger with the backup disks. But halfway through , lo and behold another black screen! I was very frustrated by this point, and was about to force reset when i bumped my mouse, voom, we're back!

From then on once I'd figured out the secret behind waking up my machine, I was right to install tiger then upgrade to leopard, which is now running nicely.

Concerns:
Gradient: Noticeable, but do i care? no
Freezing: Have managed to get it to freeze, while doing a wireless network transfer using AFD. Ran frontrow and we were gone... :'(
However, I've run it through a few tests without doing any network stuff, and it seems to handle the itunes visualizer, photobooth, and some other junk without seizing up...

So the concensus? 8/10, A few minor issues, looks beautiful, still a bit scared of it freezing, the first guy i showed it to came in 5 minutes before the freeze, not good ;)

that aside...

WOOO I GOT AN IMAC

Grats :D

Something sexy about unboxing Apple gear isn't there!

You get used to the gradient thing once you stop thinking about it. I can see it being annoying if you wanted to actually make a gradient for a website or something, but there's always the option of plugging in an external monitor.

Bet you'll love the keyboard. Most do, even if they think they'll hate it (as I did)
