Drive "Grinding", mdworker eating CPU

Anyone know why my external drive that I just moved to another Mac would be making strange grinding noises, and why mdworker would be consistently using about 20-25% of CPU time?

Thats Spotlight indexing your disk. Press the icon in the top right corner to see progress 🙂
