I may as well confess now that I'm a PC user, and know very little about Macs - please don't throw stones at me! I have a project to complete for my degree. My clients are running a Mac IBook with OS 9 (they don't wish to upgrade to OS X). Does anyone know of any open source software that I could use to write a flat file database that would be compatible with OS 9?

I was thinking of using something like psql but don't know if this will work. Oh, and it needs to run client-side, not server-side. Any bright ideas?

Does it "have" to be open-source?

Apple makes a decent database program, with an assortment of books to help you out if need be.
