I just got a new MacPro and orderd the eSATA extension for it.

I have one of these enclosues I plan on connecting to it. Can I hot swap the drives without rebooting?

I've tried these cables on PCs, and found that they are NOT hot swappable. Unless the Mac Pro has a different SATA implementation, which I doubt, since it's an Intel board.
However, that enclosure claims it's hot swappable. In such a case, I would suspect as long as the enclosure isn't disconnected from the MP, you should be fine. Just make sure it's on and plugged in before you boot.

The onboard SATA connectors are NOT hot swap compatible. The chipset only checks for new drives on boot, and removing a drive would be treated as a failure. However, you wont cause any physical damage, but it could result in data loss.
