5.5 refub 30G or new 80G for Christmas

Trying to decided which for a 13 year old's gift. The refurb is $179, the new is $249. Money isn't really the issue though. How much video will the small one hold, as he is much more a watcher than a listener of music. The new can be engraved, the refurb not. All opinions appreciated. Is the updated product much different than the 5.5 gen?

if he likes movies get the bigger one. just mythoughts as the prices isnt that much for a newer ipod (better bat life) and more space

If the battery life is improved, then that is a good reason for the new one.
