I searched the forum but didn't find any good hits for what I'm looking for...

I'm looking for a good editor for C++. I'd rather not have it be a full IDE because I need to compile via terminal and the Make utility.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- Open many files in one window (with a list of them along the side or something)
- Decent C++ syntax highlighting

I really like Smultron but it will use darn near 500MB when I open up 80-90 relatively small source files.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yet another vote for TextMate, you can even wire things up so that TextMate can kick off your command-line builds for you with a keystroke.
