You guys are trying to make sense out of a random off-topic comment I foolishly made, about it being 1372 in Los Angeles. If you need me to rationalize it, I'll say.... um..., that it's an octal number and the units are deciKelvins. I think that comes out to 91 degrees Fahrenheit, which was the temperature around midnight in some areas around here. So I can pretend it was intended to be precise all along.
Here's a good place to put a cross-reference to the Wacky units of measurement thread!

I just figured you were rounding down to a nice even number. Either that or it's cooler there than here (SFV at the moment). Remind me again why I left WA? It's only about 987 degress there right now.
Er, I think I'm measuring in rankines. Or reaumurs. I forget which.

I find I have to go out to my car, and open it for a few seconds. During this period, I can entertain myself I see all the heat wave stuff come flowing out of my car. I then decide to suck it up and get in and turn it over. Unfortunately, putting the air conditioner all the way up tends to not be good for my contacts...in fact, I can't drive with the window down.

Ha! I'm sorry, but I don't label. I judge, rationalize, condense, ignore, but NEVER label. It's a worthless hobby. Maybe when I finally post pictures people can make fun of me. Hmm... thats an idea.
But I personally think it's ridiculous that people think of others as "prep" or "jock" or "emo." It's unneccesary, because your pre-assumptions on what peoples' personalities are can hurt them, especially if they try their hardest to fit in.
Hmm... high school drama on the Mac forum.

A while back there was this e-mail making the rounds that said that people who buy A&F clothes would jump off a cliff if they thought it was fashionable. I'm inclined to believe. How can you tout your individuality when you're wearing the same brand of clothing as so many other people?
I don't see that A&F is better than AE or Gap or Banana Republic or Old Navy or anything they sell at Target. It's how you wear it and what you do while wearing it that defines you.

A&F, gag me. Diesel jeans and shoes are really cool, but that diesel belt? It does nothing but scream "I payed too much for this branded belt". And that Abercrombie shirt? Free advertising for them. I try not to wear shirts with brands prominently displayed on them. Shirts with Hollister, American Eagle, and Abercrombie are everywhere... let's try to break this trend people. Wear clothes because you like them, not because they have an expensive label blatently on the front. It essentially makes you a walking billboard.

American Eagle, expensive? Maybe I'm just too old. I bought American Eagle when I was in my late teens because it was the only place in the mall where I could afford more than one shirt at a time. I quit shopping there because it was cheap crap. My clothes would fall apart after a few wearings. Have they gotten better, or just raised prices so people would think they are better?

AE may not be that expensived... But every AE shirt has the brand displayed on the front, making the buyer essentially a walking billboard... like I said.

American Eagle has been expensive all along. You just never shopped the cheap(er) stores, apparently. I bought some canvas shorts there on clearance and they're still fine but I would not have paid full retail price for them.

What if you have a submissive type personality, huh? What with all the peer pressure nowadays, it's easy for them to be dominated by friends that are "cool" because the social norm is to wear abercrombie and finch. So naturally they'd go and get Abercrombie because of some fear built inside of them and a result of their personality.
mark!

If I understand what you are saying, you are basically saying that people who have friends that wear things like A&F, wear A&F too, just so their friends don't "disown" them or something, right?
If so, I have many friends who wear A&F, but I won't wear A&F. I don't wear what anyone else wears around here, because I don't like being "in" or doing what everyone else is doing. I like being an individual person, and I'd like to keep it that way. None of my friends have a problem with that, because what I wear isn't what makes me, me. Same with them, just because they wear (what [some] of you people call) expensive clothing, or "prep" clothing, does not mean I cannot talk to them, or shame on them because I don't like what they are wearing.
I don't think it should matter to ANYONE what people wear. If you wanna stick the generalzation (or whatever) on people that they are preppy bitchesss because they wear polos, plaid shorts, and shoes that aren't from walmart, then that is your fault. Not all preps are "jerkey" polo-wearing retards, and not all people that shop at walmart poor, (etc.)
This is why I don't like labels, and stereo types, because NONE of them apply to everysingle person that might happen to be in that particular group. What I mean is, not all gays have a lisp, not all preps are jerks, not all blondes are stupid, not all black people steal, etc.
If you like shopping at kohls, great; if you like shopping at A&F, great; if you like shopping at walmart; great. What it all comes down to is...all these clothes are for is to cover ourselves up. Some people like to do it in a what is (to them) a more fashionable way, resulting in a price rise, some people like going cheap, some don't. I seriously don't think it matter what ANYONE here wears, because I don't actually know anyone here, so I'm not gonna make a blanket statement and say CompUser is a conceited prep, because he has plaid shorts, and I'm not gonna say Hector is a cheap ass, and Capt Underpants is a hater, because I know none of them.
So, having said all that, can we get on with these polos, plaid shorts, and walmart shirts, and AE shirts, and other things about flaming what people wear & start posting more pictures? :)
EDIT: benthewraith, just in case, I wasn't talk to you that whole time, just the first paragraph, which lead me to write the rest of my post :)
EDIT 2: I wasn't saying anyone that wears A&F aren't individual, I was just saying...clothing style, your really not. If you are wearing what anyone else is wearing, you aren't an individual as far as clothing style goes. But you have to look past that (obviously) and see theres more to a person than what they wear. But anyone wearing the same things as others aren't individual as far as clothing style (like i said already), you aren't setting any trends, you are following them.

abercrombie and finch
Haha, that made me laugh. I'll assume you accidentally pressed "n" instead of "t" when typing "Fitch".
Quite frankly, most people in my particular school do not wear abercrombie except for girls. Most guys wear AE or some brand then sell at Kohls or w/e. I don't think you can say that people that shop at AE, A&F, Hollister, etc are not individals or are less of individuals because they shop there. If I dress like a gothic person that doesn't make me any more of an individual because I am dressing like other goths. If I dress Emo that doesn't make me anymore of an individual for the same reason. I dressed the way I do now, only I bought my shirts at walmart that doesn't make me any more individual than if I shop at Abercrombie. If everyshirt I owned said "Nike" on it, which is not considered to be expensive, I guess that would make a walking billboard too.
If someone came up to me on the street and told me that I am "Not an individual" and all the comments like that, I would get a large grin on my face, start laughing, and just keep walking, I would not be offended at all, I would just be amazed that someone would care. I aI use a Mac, only 4% of computer users use a mac.

I believe that a lot of people wear A&F just because they don't want to stand out. Other people will make fun of them for not choosing the right stuff.
A lot of people here also have Volcom decals in the back window of their pick up trucks.

I wear these clothes because I like them. If you don't like my Diesel belt fine. I think you people put too much weight on what people want to wear. I have these clothes because: 1. I like them. 2. The trend in Denmark is if you can mix different sorts of clothes, and make it look, example: Diesel jeans ($150). H&M belt ($8, the beige one in the Diesel jeans)). H&M shirt ($20). Converse All Star shoes ($50). Just what I like. If you wanna know what underwear and socks I wear, PM me!:p (BTW, don't)...

I find it funny, apple users commenting on expensive clothes, when we all pay too much for gear with a big fat apple logo on it.
I personally wear anything from all for mankind, hugo boss, diesel, lacoste to H & M, A & F, GAP, billabong. It's not the brand that makes me buy it but the design/fit, you would never see me walking around with clothes with a big fat HUGO BOSS print on it though.
But yeah I like to mix and match, and feel sorry for the people who refuse to wear brand clothing, because they don't want to be like all the others. If you really like how it looks, you think the price is ok, don't listen to what other people say about it.
Some refuse to pay more then $20 for a pair of jeans while others think $400 is reasonable, I don't care people should simply buy whatever they like, some people spent it on 30" acd's while other people buy a prada handbag who cares...
Sorry for my long rant
Ohw and Aglonian non-shaved looks a lot better if you ask me

Abercrombie & Fitch FTW! I like good brands!:D They are popular, because they make quality clothes...;)
I love A&F and Diesel! :D
EDIT: C?
This is not to show off my clothes, but juts to prove how nice clothes these topbrands make. In Denmark, people also put more weight into the brand. Not to brag, but I think I do the right thing by buying nice cloths from both normal and expensive brands...
You remind me of a younger Ricky Charmichael.
http://www.supercross.com/images/news/195/carmichael112603.jpg
I'd have to disagree though about A&F being "nice" clothes. I like their style and all, but they lack quality big time. The first (and last) pair of AF jeans I bought lasted no more than 3 weeks without thinning out and tearing at the knees. They were junk.
When you buy AF, Hollister, etc you're paying for the name, not the quality.
It is odd though, Hollister jeans (which belongs to the same company as A&F) last quite a while and are among my favorites.

AE is not expensive. AF is more expensive- Polo shirts go for around $50. I must say AF polo shirts are much thicker and durable than AE shirts.

I got my hair layered and it looked like crap. I was growing out my hair and the barber suggested some layering. I was like "allright" he cut most of my hair off, that I had been growing for half a year.
Maybe he's talking about a different kind of layering.

There's a type of procedure that girls (I'm not sure about guys, or if they'd want it done) can get at the salon that's kind of like "layering" colors, so they get different shades of dye thrown in. I had it done a few years ago and they called it 'weaving'. It looked great so when I went somewhere else to get another haircut, I asked if they did 'weaving' but they thought I meant a weave.

Judging from your description, I wouldn't call that layering of colors or even "weaving" sounds like a good quality "highlighting" job to me-- real highlighting usually includes the customary lighter shades as well as darker shades for full contrast and impact.

I guess it was a type of highlighting job. But with highlights of varying shades. I didn't think of describing it like that back then, though. I don't know. I'm not too much into getting my hair done. I usually just go in for a quick cut and that's it. :o

The 5.25 inch drive was new around 1975. Most small computers were either using paper tape or 8 inch drives.
This link (http://www.corestore.org/32-2.htm) points to a small IBM business system called the IBM System/32 (a.k.a. The Flying Desk) and might have been used to coordinate classes at a school, if they were lucky enough to have access to one.
None that the large platters belong to hard drives with capacities near 25 MB possibly. The 8 inch drives are hard to see on the face of the machine. The tiny CRT was better than none at all.

This might not be the place to say this but I'm brand new to Macs. I am kind of ashamed of course: the more I use my MBP the more I realize how much time I've lost getting pissed and shouting at a piece of sh**(PCs of course) that couldn't hear me and wouldn't care less how much I shouted ( which annoyed me even more)... 17 years of wasted time! Since a few moths I'm a whole new being, I was indeed expecting Macs to be better but this much better? no way!
And now I just spend as much time as I can convincing my parents, brother and sister (Father 65, mother 55,brother 30, sister 24, me 18) to switch which is no easy task! My dad made a huge effort actually getting to computers and was rather disappointed (PC). My mother just spent a fortune getting a top-of-the-rage ThinkPad and is in no mood of buying a new notebook. My brother and sister are a little easier. They should be ready in a few moths.
So here's my mac story. Give me advice and ways to convince. Wish me luck! I'll try do the family trasition in less than 221 days;)

Get your family to do stuff, stuff that shows off how easy Macs are to use. I got my dad to import photos he'd taken with his camera and print them off with iPhoto. He doesn't have a clue how to do it on the PC, but he was amazed how easy it was on my Mac! He's a complete convert. My sister already uses Macs for her art, but that's at sixth form. I am thinking of a Mac OS game from like 3rd grade that had to do with Math and Race Cars. After getting a certain number of math equations right you would make money, buy a race car, and race it. There was an old version where the car would race for you, but in the newer version you could drive the car yourself.

count chocula, cool pics. Now, talk me through this. What exactly is skim boarding? Do you need lubricant? Lubricant can make even the most mundane tasks fun.

Skim boarding is where you take this thin wooden board and you throw it down in the sand near the edge of the water and then you jump on it and you go across the wet sand/water. Its pretty fun. That's how I do it, i'm not sure how count chocula does it. No lubricant is required its just the board and the water.

Ahh thanks iShane. I've tried it a few times but usually the board sticks to the sand and I fall on my face. Bah, endless fun all the same.
