I didn't try to turn this into dating, but it would be a sweet alternate thread to start up.If you want to make a serious suggestion about this, you can post in the feedback forum, but I'll give you a quick opinion here. I think we already have ample ways for people to describe themselves (signatures, profiles, Community Discussion posts), chat about personal issues (Community Discussion), and contact each other privately as each of us chooses to permit (PM, IM, e-mail), which leads me to think a dedicated dating area wouldn't be worthwhile, but admittedly one of my goals is keeping moderation requirements low.
Of course we're still waiting for a happy couple to announce they've been married 50 years and have 24 grandchildren, all because they met at MacRumors. :)

it could be fun if people went to visit where other member's live and they hooked them up.
I know you meant that in a dating sense, but it would be could when traveling to meet some MR people at bars and stuff. I've heard about meetings before, but not something where someone is traveling to say Germany, so it would be a way of meeting some of the German MR members.
Ok, now I'm going way off topic here. But at least nobody has pestered me to post any more pictures after seeing my frst one. :D

You don’t have to tell me – I was in Berlin last year and absolutely loved it. I went on a walking tour of the city which I thought would last a few hours, and by the time my guide was done, I realized we had been walking for 11 hours! I completely lost track of time and was caught up in the city. Amazing city, I’d love to go back. And hopefully next time I’m there you won’t be in Madrid Diatribe!

With the frequency girls usually go to the mall I can understand that this is a nuisance. :p :D
Some of us girls are more likely to smack you with a hammer that we spent all day shopping for in hardware stores instead of malls implying that some of us are actually willing to set foot in one of those consumer monstrosities. :)
Hmm... maybe we should post a request in site feedback for a MacRumors Dating Service. :)
Well, that can only lead to...
Or, inter-MR dating
Macrumors incest!

That sounds fun. Too bad I'm not living there anymore! :(
What I was meaning is that next summer I'm planning on going to Germany for the world cup, so for instance to meet people over there for drinks while we watch a match at a pub or something. I dunno... the community discussion probably will work fine for that sorta stuff.

Yes... there's a supposed "curse" that hits any crew/production whenever someone improperly speaks the full name. Many incidences reported really. Anyhow, as for which character I feel a connection w/, well, I suppose both MacB and his lady, afterall, isn't that the hallmark of a great writer? Round, well-developed characters?! Yes, well that is the game that I used to play... Devilot was a "secret" character. Anyhow, she's from CapCom and she was originally a very minor character in some other game but garnered more attention from the goofy-almost spoof-like version of Tetris meets Street fighter. Go puzzle games!

this is just such a fun thread, I had a horrible day (technically yesterday, but since I have not slept yet....) this was a pleasant end. [something mushy and corny to celebrate MR adoration here]
despite the minor detours this thread takes, it's just too much fun [and something really disgustingly affectionate here]
...and should Doctor Q become disgruntled about the mini-hijack, perhaps at least "splitting" the latter portion of the thread (he'll know precisely what that means) would work, so that all the delightful banter is not lost in that notorious place that threads go to die ;)

I know what you mean, but if you can stay within a given genre or type of 'tar, but change it up to refresh it (best example is edesignuk with Keira) that makes things fun and people still know it is you. thanx for the info ... i've added Paradise Lost 2 to my netflix que; looks like the first in the (HBO) series is only on VHS. i'll have to hunt one down at the local rental (and find someone with a VHS machine! :p).
Yea, the first "Paradise Lost" is rather hard to get a hold of. It's on eBay all the time. I had to borrow it from my Criminology professor. I definately recommend checking both of them out, however if you have to watch only one, definately get "Revelations" the 2nd one. It's just an update of the 1st one. I think it's great that you are interested in this. It's a really worth cause.

I watched the first one back in like 1997, I think. It was sometime around there. I haven't been following the case for the past couple of years, though. I watched "Revelations" not too long after it was released. I actually sent a letter to Damien Echols after I watched the first one. It's hard to tell what I said in it, 'cause I was only like 13.
I need to buy "Revelations" on DVD and get re-aquainted with the case.

WOw, that's awesome, I'm impressed.
Did Damien write you back? I currently have contact with Jesse, but never heard back from Damien. Pretty much everywhere carries "Revelations". My girlfriend and I have been making t-shirts, to try raise some money for the defense fund, they've been selling pretty good too. Anyway, you should email me fadetoblack.

Nah, Damien didn't mail me back. I figured he got so many letters that he just didn't feel like responding to them all. I wish I could remember what I said in it, though.
I'll probably have to order "Revelations" online, 'cause I very seriously doubt that Wal Mart carries it and I actually live in such a small town that there's really nowhere else to buy DVD's. Our record store (On-Cue) closed down a couple of years ago.

where is Regina, Canada by the way?
Regina (population ~210,000) is the capital city of Saskatchewan population 1,000,000), which is in the heart of the Prairies. Wide open skies, lots of land, and the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see. Saskatchewan sits right on top of N. Dakota and Montana. The province of Manitoba is to the east of us, Alberta to the west. I'm about an hour flight away from Calgary and a 1.5 hour flight away from Vancouver. Saskatchewan is about 252,000 square miles (Texas is 260,000 sq mi, California is about 156,000 sq mi to give you an idea) and we have a very diverse landscape. Praries in the south (agriculture is huge here), and forest and lakes to the north. Minnesota brags it is the Land of 10,000 Lakes? Yah, nice try, we have 100,000 Lakes and some of the best fishing in North America.
Anyway, I could go on, but that's probably more than enough for now. ;)
 Here's a quick map snapshot I took from Google - ironically, Regina itself is not shown :o but it is in the south-central part of Sask.

For those of you who are sick of me please turn away; here's yet another pic of 'me' (staying with the film theme ... michael myers ,that's a great pic Pargon very nice, and leekohler).
This was taken during the shooting of a 48 hour film i was involved a few moths ago (acting/editing/SFX) called deLIVER (horror genre - a kidney thieves story with a twist; i'll post the film to MR soon.) ... that was a good time:

Thanks for the new pic iBlue; i was about to say you look great but were looking a bit thin, but then i noticed a few posts later you said you're now closer to a 'normal' weight. Good for you. :) Women should let their body find a comfortable/healthy weight ... it's much more attractive; or so i think. :)
That being said i've been attracted to skinny girls before, but they have to be pretty hot before the get my attention ... i'd like to stick with girls that 'feel' like girls and not a little boy.
I was born in Cali (Santa Clara) and my parents moved to the northwest when i was just a babe; i have absolutely no desire to return. Though i would very much like to spend a little time in northern california. And don't worry about the patriotism (or lack there of) Shard's got it right ... For us it will never come to that (what a horrible situation that would be!) - we've lived together for quite a while now, and our relationship keeps getting better and better as the years pass. Marriage won't change a lot of it in many respects. We completely respect each other, have fun, are both extremely easy-going, we communicate far too well, and are actually best friends in addition to everything else, so it's all good. :)

Thanks for that post neut, very cool stuff! As for BC, I absolutely love it. The Mountains, the Ocean, Rainforests, skiing, ocean kayaking, surfing, hiking, you name it - an adventurer's paradise! Some of the places I've been on Vancouver Island rival if not surpass those that I've seen in New Zealand, and trust me, New Zealand is an awesome place, one of my favorites in the world. Nice to have a lot of that in your own backyard though. :)

Unfortunately not yet. I've been after the director to get me a copy, but she's having trouble with her superdrive, according to her. I haven't even seen the whole thing yet. And yeah, I kind of act as a hobby-been doing it for several years off and on when someone asks. I'm on IMDB for a few films (careful-the subject matter is quite strong) and I was fortunate enough to go to the Berlin International Film Fest two years ago for the last feature I was in. And I've been doing some improv film work recently in town with a cool not-for-profit group called Splitpillow.

im seeing a correlation in good looking people and Mac users. maybe its the reduced stress or the beautiful design look of macs... i mean pretty people get pretty things. right?
we had a similar thing on a PC forum i used to be on, and the guys there were... well... wolverine had less hair :D
and hey check some of my videos out http://satansam.co.uk/graphics.htm especially the Plastix (my spoof of a parody, i suppose you could say!)

Just to clarify because it's been misused about two dozen times already - a fiancée is a female and a fiancé is a male.

Sorry, but that's what happens when you're a journalism student and you took a copy editing class. :)Stay away from the Surrey girls!!! :eek:Does this mean you don't recommend girls from Surrey, or is it that you're claiming that as your territory?

such awesome pictures everyone.
neut: i don't know what exactly you are doing to those pictures to create that "neutesque" (i made up a word) effect of yours, but it looks awesome; i'll probably always associate effects of similar to you. (weird how that works) i have a desktop thread posted where when i had it open in photoshop i wished i knew the "neut remix" technique, i thought those exact words. :)
thanks for your post, and that's good you are happy where you are currently... wish i could say the same but i miss CA very much.
same to you too shard - sounds like a great place and that's great you are happy there. i love BC too, but i admit i haven't travelled in canada as much as i would like to.
and to whomever believes there is a connection with pretty people and pretty things... i totally agree ;)

You can understand how it can be a nails-on-the-chalkboard type thing for someone with a knack for copy editing. I refer to dictionary.reference.com while I write these forum posts - not as a matter of OCD but rather (to me anyway) as a courtesy and good form.
What's almost (but not quite) ironic is that my focus in journalism school was on broadcast, where spelling isn't quite as important. As a broadcast news writer I sometimes had to write phonetically to help the anchors read it off the prompter.

No, no offense at all, I'm far too easy-going to be offended. :) I think at the end of the day I probably do more offending than anything, as some people sometimes misinterpret my sense of humor/sarcasm/wit (shocking, I know! ;))

Unfortunately, that's a bit too far for me to go. :D Surprisingly, I've never organized a WI MR meetup (despite having created the thread in my sig a year ago). There's about 50 MR members in WI, but not sure how many of those are over 21. :o
And to bring us back around on topic: ;)
Based on the pictures, there's a pretty even balance of 21+/- year olds on MR.

Looks like a warm vacation! It was a great vacation up near Petosky/Mackinac area in Michigan. Her folks have a cottage right on Lake Michigan - it was amazing. Haven't been up there in a while.

Im not sure how helpful these are though. I've lost about 15 kilos since then, so i look nothing like that really.

Still looks pretty short to me, but keep growing it out and let us know how it goes! I like having my hair a bit longer as well - well, I guess "thicker", not really long per se. But, as I've always said, if you got it, you might as well enjoy it! I know so many co-workers, friends, etc. who are going bald at young ages, that I'm going to enjoy having a rich, thick, full head of hair since I've been blessed with one!

Yeah it is still pretty short. I would have normally got a haircut a week or so ago, so I'm definitely in the beginnings of growing my hair out.
And my cousin is balding at an early age, too. He's 24. I hope that isn't saying something about my future :(

Although I suppose it's not 100% foolproof, technically baldness is carried in a gene - it's on your mother's side and skips a generation. So, essentially, if your mother's father was bald, you'll be bald. Again, not a 100% certainty, but it always helps if you have genetics on your side! As I said, I guess I'm lucky, as my mother's father had a full head of hair til the day he died when he was 84, and both myself and my brother seem to have pretty thick heads of hair.

I'm pretty much screwed, in that case. Both of my grandfathers are bald. My father is bald also.
I'm 16 and already talking about premature balding. What is this world coming to?
