I bought a refurb black macbook last January (2 GB ram, 120 GB HD) and I really like it. I have started taking classes towards a masters in computer science this fall and so far the macbook has been fine - they focus on Java right now and Eclipse is perfect on my macbook.
But I am thinking about the future. I am phasing out my old desktop PC and this laptop will be my home/school computer (have a PC for work and could use Visual Studio on it for school if I need to). Should I think about upgrading to a MBP in the next 6 months or so? Will I find that I need it for graduate work in CS?
Thanks -

I would say it depends on your concentration. Will you be doing graphics work? The macbook should be fine for if you keep doing stuff in Java. The benefit to upgrading to a MBP would be slightly faster processing, ability for more RAM, larger screen. So ask yourself, do you need these things?
