keynote to powerpoint help needed!

I need to make a powerpoint presentation for school. I was hoping to make it in Keynote and export as a powerpoint file. Im adding zero transitions, and no large file size graphics. When I export even a 3 slide presentation, I end up with like a 2mb file! how can I massively shrink this size? I've looked in prefrences, and everywhere else I can think of. It needs to be like 20 slides long, and must be a small file size. Am I forced to use powerpoint to keep the file small. I really want to use the crayon theme from Keynote. Please help. due on Tuesday.

I just tried what you were talking about and it came out as 2.2mbs.. my guess is that when they get exported into powerpoint the large background images need to be transfered as well and I guess they must be very high rez

do you just have to show what you have made or do you actually need to have open in powerpoint because if not you can just export it as a quicktime file

needs to be a powerpoint file. I don't want to spend a lot of time designing slides in powerpoint. was hoping to impress the mac-cluless with my smooth looking presentation. the powerpoint themes look horrible.

Keynote makes your background an image in PPT. Also - unlike PPT itself - it doesnt compress them. Sadly PPT wont re-compress. Ideally you need to keep all things small - also text can become large as well - no QE enhancements etc in PPT.

benixau, thanks for the reply. I'm using version 1.1 on KN. I figured that was the case with the compression, was hoping there was a work around. Hey do you know where the keynote background images are stored on the hard drive? Many I can alter them and shrink the file size? I might just have to bite the bullet and look for some decent powerpoint templates. Yes I know I can make my own, but like I said, I'm looking for an easy solution. thanks again.

I've not needed to try to compress my files, but have found that .key to .ppt conversions in general just aren't right. I don't know if saving as a QuickTime movie will improve your situation but it might be worth a shot. I generally just bring my iBook with me when I have to lecture or give a presentation. . .

if you look somewhere (cant remember nor can be bothered to look right now) you will find the default themes. The JPEGs for the background are stored in the PPT file which can only be fixed by removing them through PPTs options. Basically - i just live with it when i have to and use CDs burnt for X-platform in toast and if its small enough a USB key.
