I notice the "Mac OS X Leopard For Dummies" has a big strap across the cover advertising that it shows you how to use Sherlock (see here (http://amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0470054336/ref=s9_asin_image_1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=1XCSGFEWRES14FBN0CFK&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=139287291&pf_rd_i=468294)). Doesn't exactly inspire confidence, since Sherlock isn't even in Leopard!

I bought one of those books for cryptology - and it was trash.
But that aside, ALL those books in that series look identical. They probably just updated the "old art", and failed to remove some of the old text. :D
Their design department must have an annual overhead of $12.31. ;)

The biggest problem for me with these books is that they NEVER really write them for complete beginners. The authors seem to slip in terminology without even realising it. I always use my parents as the barometer for this sort of thing, and I wish someone would create a book or website that would really take them through the basics.

I guess since the major Leopard books still haven't been published, they'd go for the undiscriminating early market.
