View Full Version : Easiest way to add NES Roms

Nov 18, 2007, 06:58 PM
Just found this easy way to add NES Roms without having to connect to your computer etc. It is similar to way that someone posted earlier about how to Add iPhone applications.

Simply add the NES Emulator and then go into your installer and add the source:
http://markmon.mine.nu:90/iphone/repo/repo.plist

When that has refreshed, go into the games folder of your installer, and install 'Bigboss' NES Roms Pack 1'.

Then exit the installer, slide to unlock, click on the NES emulator icon, and there you have it, loads of NES games.

I can confirm that I have done it and it works perfectly.

I got this from http://lonman06.com/2007/11/14/ipod-touch-adding-nes-roms-the-simplest-way-possible/

Enjoy!

Have you jailbroken the touch? It may be best for you to start a new thread, or search the forum.

EDIT: BTW nice solution

I think it's about 5.5 megabytes... but all of the roms are in the Media partition so they don't take any space away from apps.

I noticed it would not work for me because when it came to typing in the "nu:90" part of the link it automatically put in "by:90". I got past that by typing lightly and quickly. I'm downloading BigBoss now. Thanks so much!

This may sound dumb...but getting my Touch tomorrow and just want to make sure. It's not necessary to be online to play these games? So many apps seem to need internet connectivity.

One thing I would like to point out while typing in the new source.

When you get to the bit NU, for some reason you iPod/iPhone thinks you want to type by, it took me a few tries to realise this, and 'cancel' the 'by' suggestion, this lead to not finding the source, timing out etc.

Hope this helps.

You run Installer.app, which presumably you know how to use if you've downloaded the NES emulator itself. Along the bottom row of the screen, at the right hand corner, is a button called "Sources" -- this configures the websites that the Installer will check to get its list of downloadable items.

Click Sources, and you'll see a list (AppTapp Official, Apple's Repository, Community Sources, etc). Click "Edit" in the TOP right corner. Now they're editable. Now click "Add" in the top LEFT corner.

Now you can type in the source name.

Hope that helps!

Yeah I think for URL's it should stop trying to help out with typing; how many URL's are proper words ey :/

I finally jailbroke my ipod for the first time tonight and did the nes emulator. It said to me when I finished d/ling that I have to delete games thta I don't already own since this illegal? Should I do this or don't worry about it? I don't want to get in trouble or anything

^ Hmm, I don't remember that when I did it but like anything on the dodgy side of the law, as long as you don't get caught you're cool. If it really worries you then you could hide the NES icon with Customize so no one would be any the wiser.

Hmmm I added the source correctly (i re enetered it again to make sure) and in the games tab i dont see any games pack. WHats goin on? Also, the source is listed under "unstable sources" in the source list. That doesnt sound good.

Edit: Nevermind about the unstable sources, its actually in "uncategorized". still now showing any games tho.

There are hundreds of threads and guides across the net concerning this, a google search or a search of this forum would probably be your best shot. Wiki is also handy for information on those trick acronyms ;)

Download it to your computer's hard drive. Unzip it there. Then use an SFTP program to send the files to your iPod touch, specifically, the /var/root/Media/ROMs/NES folder.

I have spent HOURS trying to get this to work but with no success.

I have a BOATLOAD of nes roms on my MacBookPro. Id like to install the games via hardwired, NOT wireless.

I have not found any 411 on how to do this. I have 3 different NES Emulators installed on my Iphone 4 now. And all the games in my Mac harddrive. All the wireless tutorials are NOT working.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be GREATLY appriciated. THank you very much in advance
