Anyone successfully connected their iPhone to the BMW (or other) handsfree via bluetooth.

Mine connects ok, but for some reason can't hear anything through car speaker ?

Certainly works for me, with full functionality, on my X5.

I do recall, however, that it took a while to pair it.

Works fine on mine too.

This may sound like a stupid point, but make sure the volume is up when a call is in progress (using the steering control) - it took me ages to figure out the volume on phone & sat nav was independent of radio/cd volume when I first got it.

On mine the sat nav volume is independent but I'm pretty sure that the phone and radio/cd/tape volumes are the same.

It works flawlessly in our Volvo S40, it's a beautiful thing. My wife's Treo 750 is always having trouble maintaining a connection.

I had a similar issue to you. In my case, I could hear the person the other end of the phone and had full phone book visibility in my car (BMW UK '55 Plate 730d), however, the other person on the call couldn't hear me.

My brother gave me a fix for this, this morning --- disable wifi. Apparently, something to do with Bluetooth/Wifi using the same frequency. It works now on mine but brother still having some problem with his in a UK '07 plate Z4.

Not sure why it should work on an older BMW vs. his newer one, but that's where we're at right now.

Hope this helps in your case...

what's the production date of your bmw? bmw has published an official list of the vehicles and the production dates that are specifically compatible with the iphone - see this site (http://www.wireless4bmw.com/index.html) for the details.

i should note, however, that this site does not list my X3 as being compatible with a production date in february '06, but my iphone works perfectly with it...

It does not show compatibility with my '05 Z4 either, but they work together very well. The functionality isn't that sophisticated, but the address book loads up very quickly and it's easy to make calls even though the only display is one line on the radio unit.

My only gripes are that it sometimes takes a little time to establish the Bluetooth connection, and sometimes it takes a while to return to music play once a call has been ended.
