I am about to buy a Hitachi DVD-Cam, probably the MV 230 E. There is a USB connection possibility with a PC, if one buys the Connection kit, but no software for the Macintosh. Does anyone have any knowledge about compatibility issues of this videocamera with a Mac Powerbook? In case there is no way connecting the videocamera with the Powerbook, could I use a DVD-R/DVD-RAM external Firewire drive (for instance the multidrive of LaCie) to get my movies into the mac?
Thank you for any advice!

I haven't been able to fine an "expert" in MAC perpherials to help me. I have a great camera (Hitachi 230A DVD CAm with DVD disk). I have not been able to find anyone who can tell me for sure whether I can hook it up effectively to a MAC G-5. I want to buy one but can't really do that until I know that there is something out there which will allow me to make the connection.

Please help.
