When the nano's backlight is off, should the lcd screen still be active and updating? Mine does and I find it odd that it would waste battery refreshing an unlit screen.

sometimes when i put it in my pocket, it should go off yeah. but sometimes I can watch what song is playing even without the screen lit up.
