Boot Camp question

Can I install Boot Camp on an external drive and boot to it? A quick Google search looks like nobody is doing it this way. But I won't have room for Windows if I partition the internal hard drive of the MBP.

No. BootCamp only supports the internal drive.

Yes you can, in boot camp assistant select the external HDD for installation. It need not be FW, it may be USB

Windows XP doesn't really like booting from an external USB drive, but it can be done:

Easier on a MacBook where the internal is removable over the MBP.
