My iPod thinks it's full!

My "old" 20Gb iPod shows 574Mb space left out of 18.59Gb available. I have been using it as a hard drive back up but deleted all the files using Finder. There should only be 10.77 Gb of music. It's hiding 7Gb somewhere. Anyone any ideas?

Also, can I delete the file"iPod Installer Mac OS" file from the ipod?

If everything else fails, just use the iPod Software Updater to restore factory settings and then put all your music back onto it.
