I've had a 30GB 3G for a while which stopped working some time ago, and I replaced it with a 40GB 5G over a year ago.

It occurred to me that I could I sell the thing, and then I found out about possibly repairing it myself in which case I'd get more money for it or I might actually use it myself.

When I plug the charger in, I get the low battery symbol first, then the apple logo. I can hear the hard drive spinning. This continues for a while then stops and the screen goes blank. The hard drive whirrs once again and the whole thing repeats again and again until I unplug it.

If its just a duff battery, I can change that for very little money. But it its the hard drive its probably not worth any effort. Any ideas?
