Tiger installation hangs

I erased my hard drive through disk utility with the mac os x extended journaled format. i then proceeded an erase and install of tiger, but whenever the installation gets to "installing base system part 1" it stop at 84%... it just stays there, and does nothing. I have even left it on over night. Any suggestions?

no the disk appears to be fine...

The only possible things that I could see causing this are:

Bad CD
Bad Drive
Bad Hard Drive

Try running the diagnostic tools that came with the mac (if you have those?)

Have you used the install disks before?

I'm more of a PC tech and a new Mac switcher, but if this happened on a PC which I have seen it happen, it's either bad cd or bad cdrom drive.
