My mistake. But that's what you paid for it, and it's somewhat odd to sell a computer this quickly.
By the way, that photo of the blackout on your server is fake (http://www.snopes.com/photos/blackout.asp). :)

If it's only 2 weeks old...why on earth don't you just return it to an Apple Store near you? There's about a 30 day return policy, isn't there?

it's 10 day I believe. And they charge a 10% restocking fee even if he could still return it.
uniacid
Sep 21, 2003, 08:55 PM
that is correct, its been more than 10 days and they would charge $200 since its open

10 day? Wow. I would have guessed 15 at the least. There are some resellers that you could maybe convince to let you bring it to for store credit, and then just buy your powerbook, with it, if that's what you wanted to do.

ummm, the g5s have a 30 day return policy. i remember this very specifically because after the keynote in june, the sales people were talking it up big time.

then how come is says on my recipt
"if you are not satisfied with your Apple purchase, please return it with the original recipt and all original product packaging within ten (10) calender days of the date of purchase."
plus they will charge a 10% restocking fee which works out to be around $200
anyways the lowest price I'm going for is $1860

that is their usual policy, but they changed the rules for this particular machine. their register just didn't have anything that detected the specific purchase/change in policy and then change the form response on the receipt. the restocking fee does suck, though. i am not sure, however, that it would still apply to the G5s. really you should have called and asked instead of putting it up on ebay (unless you could find someone to give you much more for it because they were dumb/afraid it would take too long to get theirs through the apple store).

Yeah, it's just the desktop picture I have with a black brush gone all over the north east coast. As you can see the land does reflect light (even the ocean does) so there's no reason that that area would be just black...

Since you were so helpful in my thread, I just I would point out that it is standard policy to ask for a receipt from an authorized reseller when you attempt a warranty claim through HP. So unless, 'It Fell Off The Back of a Truck' is the name of your authorized HP var, I very much doubt that you will get a 3 year warranty.

Better find out if its a transferable warranty. I don't think HP warranties are.
When did you buy this computer? Today? Beacuse the only way that it would have a 3 year warranty would be if you bought it today.
But wait, you have been trying to sell this computer here for a few weeks. I guess its not a full three years is it.
And hey, I thought you said you had more than one of these. You bought a bunch of $2400 USD laptops from Best Buy and never opened them?
Hmm.

No kidding. I have the exact same laptop, much to heuer's chagrin, and I ain't even getting a nibble.
I am going to get it running Pi and UT2k3 becnhmarks 24/7 until it melts. Then I will take it in on the extended warranty and talk my way into getting an iBook.

For anyone who has not played with one of these, and is wondering if they are fast enough... the 1.6GHz model IS VERY FAST!!!!
It is noticably faster than my dual 800 in every test I was able to run at the local Compusmart. Thankfully, the 1.6 I played with was loaded with warez (at the STORE) and I got to run some applications. Office loaded so fast I had to double check that PowerPoint wasn't already running. It opened up instantly.
Overall, the responsiveness of OS X was like the first time I tried OS X on a PowerMac after running OS X on a 400MHz iMac. Wow! These G5 computers are like fancy sports cars.
If your wife will let you, get one.
Not everyone can own a porsche, but almost everyone can own a G5.

OK, then, how's this for a deal:
I'll trade you my '73 Porsche 914 1.7 straight up for your G5. That way, we can both have the experience to own a G5 AND a Porsche. And remember, Porsche is a two-syllable word....
