How do I get gpSPhone to work? I have a BIOS and some roms. But I dont know where to put the BIOS. The instructions at http://zodttd.com/ also say you need to change teh permissions, can I do this from the iPod?

Ok so I put the BIOS in but now all I get get is a white screen. I used the first google result from filefront.

did you copy roms to ipod?

to do this u need to ftp into your ipod and go to the media folder create a roms folder and if its the gameboy advance emulator create another folder called gba and put the roms there

so in the end you should have a folder with the address:
var/root/media/roms/gba

and to change permissions in the ftp client right click the file and make sure the chmod is 755

if you downloaded gpsphone from the installer you do not have to change the permisions. For the gba bios sftp it into the actually application folder

Does this mean that if I install the GBA emulator that I still have to manually copy another file across?. What file is it (bios?) and were do I get it? Also, what's the best GBA rom to go hunting for (and please DONT say Pokemon)

Cheers!

Yes, you need to add the bios. Do a search on the forum there's a topic that shows how to get a bios it involves googling something but I forgot the name of the file.

As for roms I've been playing final fantasy and that's really fun!

OK, I googled for gba_bios.bin and spent ages searching for it even forgetting to blink at one point, and let me just say that having your eyeballs stuck to your eyelids is not funny. I even tried torrent but nothing turned up. Any link that people mentioned or that looked promising was dead or the file had been removed. So can some kind soul please zip up their working bin file and email it to me at ..... bdsmyth AT hotmail DOT com

Thanks in advance!

Yeah the link is to Rapid Share which I've tried but can't get. I don't know why. I've tried from my macbook from laptop etc. and nothing I just get errors. I think it may be because I live in Singapore which is the only thing I can put it down to. So, again, if you have it can you email it to that would be great. My email is bdsmyth AT hotmail DOT com

Thanks Again

It doesnt work :O In pokemon yellow I get past the initial start screen and then the screen goes blank and nothing. In Pokemon silver I get to the part where I must choose a pokemon and I'm not given the option to choose one. I've tried a few other games but nothing :( So even if there was a windows version it wouldnt help.

Tried the latest version of this emulator. Viewable screen size has been increased and control is as good as it is going to get with the touch screen. Most games I have tried run ok. The best type of games of games are puzzle games that don't require lot of fast controls.

The version of this emulator for the psp works a lot better due to the increased screen size, faster processor and dedicated hardware controls. People with hackable psp's should check it out.

PSP Proecessor is actually slower in MHZ, 333 compared to ipod touches 400mhz, how this compares to real world speed I dont know, but the psps version of GBAsp is much further ahead in development, judging the touch's version at this point is stupid.

Ok, I was wrong about the processor speed. So What? Even if the iphone /itouch version eventually matures to the level as the psp version, this emulator will always be better on the psp for one simple reason. The PSP has actual hardware controls as opposed the the iphone's virtual gamepad. Seriously have you even tried playing with the virtual gamepad? It makes precise control impossible.

Tactical and turn based games run well, other than the occasional lag. I also have some problems with it crashing and sending my iPod back to the unlock screen, but problems are acceptable.

High, check your inbox it should be there.

On the version, I've upgraded to 0.1.9 but already rolled back to 0.0.8 as I'm still get far too many crashes on the newer version. I'm still waiting for a version as stable as 0.0.8 with all the improvements, and before anyone has a go at me I've already donated as I think its a great app, and also it means I get to bitch honestly ..... ha ha

Cheers!

SSH into your iPod and place them in the directory it tells you when you open up the GBA emulator program.

No sh11t Sherlock, Im sure anyone with a touch realised that the second they bought a touch and thought about console emulation on it.

Version 1.0.0 totally rocks. So far it seems to be the most stable of the versions with the smoothest game play, and the landscape mode works great on the touch.

The attached image is the controller I've done based on a couple of others I've seen, so this is the one I'm using now. It really fades into the background so you see the full screen. Just save it as a PNG file and copy it to the gsPhone application directory

Upgrade and enjoy !

bdsmyth,
Nice controller image, it fix exactly at the Ipod Touch screen. I recommend!
HINT: do not directly copy the attached image, because it's in a compact size. So, first click on the image to open a new page with the original size, then you can copy the image to you Ipod.
Thanks!
