Hello, I have an IomegaŽ UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive FireWireŽ 400/USB 2.0 as it seems to do what I need & was at a discount here. Now my question is pretty simple, this harddrive seems to be made to look like a Mac Pro, but I truly couldn't care less about that, so is it ok (as in no harm done) for the disk if I take away that little foot and put the thing on its side? I prefer it that way because it's just more stable then, and that's pretty important for me!

Please let me know, thanks!

Perfectly ok.

And this will be no problem to possible 'heat' issues?

Thanks for the lightning fast reply :)

Unless you block the ventilation holes you should be ok.

I just unpacked it, and just wanted to say (not having used yet) that it looks absolutely awesome... It's very nice aluminium, looks nice even when put on the side, and the fans are on the back so hopefuly I'll be ok :)

I don't think it should be a problem, as long as the ventilation isn't being blocked. After all, in towers, I doubt that all brands of computers place the hard drive in the same orientation...
