Hi, what are the main advantages of buying a mac from the apple store as opposed to buying a mac from a third party, authorised retailer like, say, John Lewis?

thanks for your input,

mp 🙂

John Lewis offer a two year warranty for free while Apple only give you one year, and you can extend to three years at JL for less that the Applecare price.

coolio, but if I have an issue with my mac in year 2, do I have to take it to John Lewis or can I go to the apple store? 😕

And there are discount codes available for John Lewis.

Best one has got to be 20 off 100. You gan get a nano for £80

They also have 10 off 50, 30 off 300.

LMK if you need links. This is a Telegraph offer but the codes work for anyone.

ok, post the link please. thank you.

Make sure you read the fine print on those code offers.....'cause in most cases with retailers that sell macs, most or all apple products are excluded......at least here in the US anyways.....

has anyone found a John Lewis in the UK that is selling the new macbooks?

There's a post about this very same thing, just above the OP's Starter.

(Not having a go BTW, I'm just about to repeat what I posted in there so apologies if you have read my comments before!)

I enquired to JL via email about when they were expecting their SR MacBooks in and I'm still waiting for a reply!

In the end, I bought it from Apple, I had saved a quote for the MacBook in there and Apple gave me AppleCare for free when I told them I hadn't gone ahead with the order.

HTH
