Apple Headphones?

I use the Apple iPod Headphones that came with my nano and I love them. I think they have pretty good sound quality and they are pretty aswell. Do you use them? If not , why not and what headphones do you use?

These sortof broke now :( There seems to be coming noise from the backside of the headphones and its very quiet. Im now using some other Creative headphones and they're fine. Anyone had this problem?

I can't wear the apple supplied ones very long before my ears start to hurt where they're in contact. I have a pair of the ultimate ears superfi5 pro's... and they are absolutely amazing. You can find them online now for less than $130 if you look. UE wants like 250 on their website. *choke*

I can't wear the apple ones too long because they hurt after a while. I've had the griffen bud cover things that basically takes the buds and makes them into pseudo in-ears but they're never a great fit for me. I use VMODA Vibes now and have a pile of others that I have just tried and set aside.

Hey yeah I noticed that , but the headphones you get now are the new ones, apple sent the protectors with the old ones.

Those protectors keep your headphones nice in your ears and its a good feeling , I think yuo can get those seperately , too.

Yes exactly, when you are in a crowded room you find yourself playing your iPod on max because of the background noises. :o

I use the Apple headset with both my iPhone and iPods. I like the way they fit in my ear. I don't like the kind that fit into your ear, they hurt. I go to Radio Shack and buy a package of those little foam covers and they fit on my Apple headsets.

I still have a package of those foam covers that came with my 30GB iPod Photo. They do sell those covers at Radio Shack.

Too bad I dont have such a store near me... im going to try the in-ear head phones from Apple ( maybe ) see if they hurt or not.

I use the super.fi 5's I love them, comfortable and isolating for a great bass response. Plus the highs are clear.

I think they're awful, they hurt my ears and don't sound all that great. I use some sennheiser wrap-around headphones and they sound so much better. Never was a big fan of in-ear headphones.

I use some sony in ear buds.. They work better than he apple ones.

I rate them a 2 out of 10. Mine were immediately replace by Shure E3C.

Am loving em!

I literally cannot stop listening to my music, which is why I'm on here right now!

(I'm using them to listen to music from my iMac; I don't have an MP3 player)

I've had lots, trying to find portable music nirvana.

From a musical point of view, since I usually use what might be called ultra-high-end equipment at home I know what things should sound like and as a result I hated the single-driver balanced-armature in-ear phones like the Etymotic ER-4P, as they sound completely unnatural.

But I found the isolation a huge advantage for travelling - especially with the Etymotic foam tip design, as opposed to the shorter, less isolating ones from Shure or the completely useless ones from Ultimate Ears on the likes of the Super.Fi 5.

Which is why I turned to custom moulding. The custom moulds sit better in my ears for long periods of wear, the isolation is as good as it can reasonably be expected to be and the three drivers on my UE-10Pro provides a more balanced sound than tinny single-driver balanced armature phones.

I also use a Shure E3c for listening to podcasts - which I do a lot of. The mid-range hump on these (which gives a nasal flavour to music... It's easy enough to EQ out but only if you don't own an iPod) works well for listening to voice with the soft tips, which don't isolate as well as the foam tips but are far more practical for use in commutes. At a pinch I use these for music as well, since the E3c responds to EQ corrections a little better than the Etymotics.

My biggest problem with IEM's (In Ear Monitors) and other types of earphones that go inside the ear canal is that they are either uncomfortable for prolonged periods of time or they are simply hard to get in properly. Many of the "premier" companies like Shure and Ultimate Ears require the user to squeeze the foam, jam it in the ear and then wind the cable up and over the back side of the ear. I have never found this easy or comfortable.

Fortunately, the IMAGE earphones don't require the user to do any of this....
I need to preface my remarks about sound quality with a reminder that I have been most fortunate to test pretty much all this big names in earphone design. I have listened to amazing earphones from Ultimate Ears, Shure, Audio Technica, V-Moda, Altec Lansing, Sennheiser and others. That being said, I have never heard anything that rivaled what I heard when I put the IMAGE earphones in my ears. I really did not think that I could be that blown away - but I was.

I've tried both types, the inside the ear "plug" type and the "regular" earbuds that just rest in your ear without forming a seal.

While I enjoy the noise isolation the "plug" headphones bring, they all seem to have a serious problem: Every single sound you make in your mouth, breathing, talking, even moving your head, is amplified about 20 times and you can annoyingly hear. Also, when you move your head around the cord touching things "mics" up into the earplugs and makes annoying noise there too.

Also, often pressure differentials will build up that make them very uncomfortable.

Because of this I've given up on "plug" style headphones and am going back to regular ear-buds. Standard white Apple earbuds with these third-party foam covers:

I wish there were more options out there for high end "earbud" style headphones. All the new good stuff is plug-style. Ugh.
