Opinions wanted/needed

Hey all,
I'm currently redesigning my website and I would like some feedback on the design.

Old Site (http://www.davidronaldson.co.uk)

New Site (http://www.davidronaldson.co.uk/newsite/)

The new site will still house my photography, but will also have the rest of my portfolio online.
I just showed my mum it and she says she prefers the old site (apparently it looks more professional :confused: ).
So what do you guys/gals think?

I prefer the old design. The colors on the new one just don't work for me and the text size is too small.

The new one doesn't exude photography. But if that's not the focus, it's a nifty little design.

The new design looks much better. I hate websites that have a black background with white text.

Thanks for the feedback, i'm really undecided... i'll probably have a play around, try some different things.

The first one is better suited to a photography site. The second seems like more of a "general" or web design site, but doesn't fit with photography.

I like the old one.

The new one is just trying to rehash some trendy 70's graphics if you ask me.

I think the new one would work better if the colours were toned down, so using shades rather than a rainbow.

But I like both site they each one has very positive things going for them.

The new one's color stripes look like shorts you would wear with roller skates on the beach in the 70s. :eek:
