Hey Folks...
As many of you probably already know, I'm planning on putting my PB G4 up for sale. However, in looking at this situation, vís a vís what gear I presently have in my home, I'm kind of thinking about selling off other stuff as well.
All of my present gear are pre-Intel Mac boxen. They range from 10 years old to three years old. What I'm looking for in posting this is some community feedback to help me gauge if the rest of the stuff is worth selling, or is better used by mere repurposing.
PowerMac G3/300 - this unit is vintage 1997. It's technically a G3/266 desktop that I OC'd to 300MHz waaaaaaay back when, and it's never given me a lick of trouble. Of course, it's not like 44MHz is some big heat-generating deal or anything. It's got 576MB of RAM, two hard drives (one 40GB, one 30GB), a 3DFX Voodoo3 3000 video card, and a D-Link 100baseT ethernet card. Will also include the powered Apple studio mic they used to ship with Macs from this era and before.
iMac G4/800, 15" - this unit is roughly vintage 2002/3, has been upgraded to 1GB RAM, has a combo drive and stock 60GB HDD. Has the original -- and excellent-sounding -- Apple digital "crystal ball" speakers.
PowerBook G4/1.5GHz, 15" - bought this new and when it first came out, back in 2004. Upgraded to 1GB RAM. Stock SuperDrive. 64MB ATI video. Illuminated keyboard. Airport Extreme and Bluetooth. I'm replacing the stock 80GB with a new 120GB to help make it more interesting. Including both the original factory battery (never part of any of the PB battery recalls) and a separately-purchased PB battery (also never part of any of the recalls).
Original Apple iSight - Ok, so it isn't a Mac. But I'm told they're still desirable. I've not used it all that much, but it does work well.
External Firewire DVD burner - custom-built; the unit can write to Dual Layer, DVD+ and DVD- media, and naturally CD media of all kinds.
Yamaha 2.1 speaker set - two stereo speakers and a matching subwoofer. All sound fine, but I don't have a computer to hook these up to any more.
Harmon Kardon speakers - these are the same type that shipped with a number of Dell and/or HP computers "back in the day". They work just fine, sound great and all, but are a little bulky for the space I am using.
Samsung SyncMaster 900IFT monitor - used it a bit when I first got it, but then as I started buying other equipment, I essentially converted over to LCD, and the unit has really not been significantly used since. Still works great, though.
Anyhow, in the spirit of "toss things against the wall, and see what sticks" I thought I'd mention all of these items here and see if anyone has any interest, or has any thoughts or opinions on their relative value now.
Thanks in advance!
