If you connect a BD player then, I assume, it's capable. The resolution is high enough on the 24 incher.

So far, no one seems to know of any BR-capable software for iMacs:

Sure, you can play Blu-Ray HD on your Mac. All you have to do is install Windows and then install AnyDVD HD (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/138825) on your Windows partition. ;)

As of Nov. 2007, you can attach an external Blu-ray burner (BD-R) to your Mac. Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard will recognize the drive. However, no compatible playback software for Mac (that supports Blu-ray and HD DVD content encryption) currently exists.

Apple's DVD Player (Leopard) supports high definition content playback. However, it does not support support AACS, BD+ or BD-ROM Mark encryption schemes used by encrypted Blu-ray discs. Therefore, playback of encrypted Blu-ray discs is currently not possible.

DVD Player also does not support VC-1 encodes or BD-Java.

Currently, the only real use for a Blu-ray burner on a Mac is for data storage. You will need Roxio Toast Titanium 8 to burn Blu-ray data discs.

Go spelunking into the depths of the web, maybe you'll stumble upon a way to get it working.

Here's a jumping off point (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&q=site%3Avideolan.org+%22blu-ray%22+OR+bluray+%22os+x%22&btnG=Search) to start your search.
