My brother is looking for a mac for his studio, and he came upon this (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/sys/492847516.html). Now, i looked it up, and that only appeared on russian sites. Should my brother not buy this? Or will it be exactly like any old iMac? (Assuming theres nothing wrong with it internally.)
Thanks.

Just look them up here

once you can pin down which machine it is.

I think Sun Baked might be onto something about it being LATE 2006.
Check out this ebay auction... in the questions at the end, the seller says the Model Number is A1195, and its a Core 2 Duo - not a Core Duo like your craigslist listing.

I couldn't even tell you what my model # is without the box. I've only seen people reference the part numbers. Still weird that when I search on yahoo for "A1195 imac" the russian apple site is #1 hit :)

I thought it was a late 2006, but that was the education model with integrated graphics and a C2D
While the early 2006 had the ATI and CD...
One or the other, important distinction so knowing what GPU might be more important than the CPU.
